See what other Photographers are Saying:

“A great day with Brad at Rhiwagor falls. Brad challenges you both as an individual and as a group making you reflect on your photographic style and approach as well as offering technical tips on technique and composition. Importantly, you get plenty of time to slow down and really consider what you are trying to get out of each photograph. Brad is not just about the photography but uses this as a medium to think wider and consider your own journey and philosophy. Beautiful scenery, something new around each corner. Highly recommended.’’

Why Learn with Me?

A Revolutionary Approach to Landscape Photography Tuition

These workshops have been carefully designed to give you space to create personally expressive photographs that tell your own story. This isn't about replicating my vision or learning a formula; it's about discovering how you see the world and expressing that unique vision through the lens of your camera.

My goal is not to guide a group of people to the same places I once stood, telling them which settings to use to create something I once saw. These days are designed to get you thinking like you, and seeing in a way that only you can.

A Personal Journey of Transformation

My photography journey began in 2018 during a period of personal reflection and transition following a heartbreak that awakened me to my grief. What started as a simple walk to Pistyll Rhaeadr with a camera became a transformative experience that completely changed my outlook on life, leading to deep healing, personal growth, and the unearthing of a profound purpose.

This lived experience and my embodied understanding of photography's power to heal and invoke spiritual transformation shape every aspect of my approach to photography workshops.

‘‘Photography holds such great power as a form of art and creative practice. It can be transformational for the human spirit; the camera, a tool for personal and spiritual development that can lead a person towards a place of deep healing and greater self-awareness.

Photography, for me, has been as much an alternative form of therapy as anything else. I walk now, a much changed version of myself in comparison to the version of me that existed before I reconnected with my soul through the art of Nature photography.’’

See what other Photographers are Saying:

‘‘Brad's style of teaching is that of a coach that wants to help you get the best out of your own vision and art. This is not about telling you what to do, it is about asking you to think about why you are taking that particular picture and how you might improve it. This is for those who really want to take their photography to a new level of meaning and thinking. It made me realise that the most important part of the experience is to be out in nature and to try and use my photography to share the benefits of how this makes me feel.’’

What Makes These Workshops Different?

Your Thoughts, Your Camera, Your Story

It is my goal to empower you as the photographer so that you understand your own thought processes and learn to take photographs that only you know how to take and why you are taking them. This isn't just photography — this will be a day full of open, honest, interesting, and philosophical discussion about light, life, and landscape, all to help you develop as an artist. These workshops are a safe space to express your full self — a container for curiosity, experimentation, imagination, and wonder, where beauty can emerge in all forms.

A Philosophy-Led Approach

On workshop days, I commit much of my focus towards the more spiritual, emotional, and psychological side of the art. There is as much time spent exploring the inner landscapes through conversation as there is creating photographs. I hope to inspire a new breed of photographers who are, perhaps, more conscious of their creative ‘why’ as well as their own place here on Earth: as human beings that are a part of Nature and not separate from it.

Learning Through Experience, Not Lectures

I don't want to spend the morning talking to you. I believe that learning is best done through action. Therefore, you'll be given plenty of time and freedom to explore the landscape, yourself, and your own creativity throughout these landscape & Nature photography workshops. From my own lived experience, I have found that learning is best achieved through trial and error. I like to get you to go where your own curiosity leads you, and then I provide you with the tools and knowledge to be able to answer your own questions.

Small Groups, Deeper Connections

I work with small groups to ensure everyone receives personal attention and we can build a genuine sense of community. These workshops are not just about learning — bring coffee, have fun, experiment, and become part of a community of like-minded people. You'll be sure to leave feeling inspired, more creative, and with memories that will last a lifetime.

Personal Growth Through Creative Practice

Photography can be so much more than just a hobby. For me, it has been a form of therapy; it has increased my self-awareness & understanding and helped me connect more deeply to the planet that I call home, as well as everyone in it. I know that it can become something similar for you, too, if you would like it to. During these workshop experiences, I will impart some of my wider philosophies and guide you to the intersection where landscape photography meets personal development.

A Sense of Community

We all need to feel a sense of community, don't we? The last few years have been challenging in many ways. What could be better than a relaxing, meditative walk in nature with like-minded people, sharing stories and creating beautiful photographs? You'll also receive an invitation to my private Facebook group, where you can continue your learning and connect with fellow photographers who share similar values.

A Strengthened Connection to Nature, Self, and Other

Nature photography can be so much more than just capturing beautiful scenes. These workshops offer you:

  • A space to slow down and be present

  • Freedom to explore your own creative vision

  • Philosophical discussions about light, life, and landscape

  • A container for genuine self-expression

  • The opportunity to use your camera as a tool for personal development

  • Connection with others who understand the deeper 'why' of Nature photography

‘‘Nature photography is a holistic practice that combines the mind, body, and spirit. It has immense potential as a modality for delivering healing to the human soul and bringing humanity back into harmony with the natural world.’’

About Me, Brad Carr

I'm Brad Carr, an internationally published fine art landscape photographer, writer, and creative mentor based in Mid Wales.

My photographs of Wales's ancient woodlands, serene mountain lakes, and timeless landscapes have been featured in leading photography publications, including On Landscape, Outdoor Photography, and Nature Vision. My debut exhibition, Finding Light, was viewed by an estimated 20,000 people at Plas Glyn y Weddw, one of Wales's oldest and most prestigious galleries, in 2025.

Over the past seven years behind the camera, I have developed a strong connection to the spirit of Nature and the Welsh landscape, which has inspired an immense amount of personal and spiritual growth. My photography excursions have had a profound impact on the way I view our natural world, as well as producing a positive change in my own health and wellbeing.

I believe that photography can be the vehicle for so much more than merely documenting a location. It provides a platform to communicate complex thoughts and emotions, it can be responsible for profound levels of personal growth, and it can lead us to a place of deeper self-awareness and understanding, allowing us to foster stronger connections and relationships with everyone around us.

My Teaching Philosophy

I am a compassionate, understanding, and patient person. I take my time and communicate in such a way that reaches all levels and abilities. I'm not what you might call a talking teacher — I much prefer to let you experiment and develop your own creativity and vision, whilst I hang around on the sidelines, offering guidance and insights and posing questions for you to ponder.

My greatest desire is to share knowledge and wisdom, communicate my own thoughts and philosophies behind my art, help people to build their own connection to the natural world, and contribute my part towards building a community of people who wish to move in a similar direction and make positive changes towards crafting a better world for tomorrow.

My Five Pillars of Landscape Photography

Through years of walking Wales's ancient woodlands and bearing witness to Snowdonia's transient moods and guiding countless others to refine their creative vision, I've developed a framework that addresses what's often missing in landscape photography education: a structured approach to the deeper work of creating meaningful, self-expressive photographs.

The Five Pillars of Landscape Photography aren't rules to follow or techniques to master. They are invitations to a more conscious way of working – one that transforms photography from the documentation of a place or recording of time into genuine artistic expression.

The Five Pillars:

1. Connection — Establishing a genuine relationship with the place before lifting the camera

2. Intention — Understanding the deeper purpose behind what you're creating

3. Observation — Moving from looking to truly seeing what the landscape reveals

4. Attention — Focusing your awareness purposefully to craft compelling photographs

5. Reflection — Discovering what your photographs reveal about you and your unique vision

Together, these pillars form the foundation for landscape & Nature photography that transcends technical proficiency and enters the realm of authentic self-expression.

“What an amazing workshop. I’ve visited the area on numerous occasions, but never have I taken in all of its beauty.
Brad’s style of tuition is that of a teacher, if required, but more importantly as a coach making you think; ‘Why am I taking this photo?’ ‘How can I improve it?’
I came away from the day knowing more about my camera but the biggest takeaway was the realisation that photography really does make you stop, look and consider your surroundings.
Thanks to Brad, I’m itching to get back out in the great outdoors with my camera and look out for more photographic opportunities.’’

‘‘A journey into the natural world offers great sanctuary and refuge, a place for stillness and deep reflection. When a man finds himself wandering alone on the clifftops that have been delicately shaped over millennia by the sea's persistent chisel, what else has he to do but look back upon his own life to understand and make peace with the raging tides that carved the caves and crevasses within his own internal landscape?’’
