Each of these collections represents a chapter of my creative journey; a quiet conversation between my inner world and the landscapes that have shaped it.

Finding Light

This work represents the first chapter of my creative journey. It was a profound period of my life: a healing one, a transformative one, and a foundational one for a lifetime of creative work to come. I stood on the threshold of my masculinity, confused about what it meant to be a man following over a decade of violence and abuse that overshadowed my childhood years, lacking in purpose and direction, and desperately searching for a place to belong. I found that place cradled in the eternally-loving arms of Mother Nature.

Seeking Stillness

When all is calm in my surroundings, I can hear my truest self. I know that the voice I need to listen to is the one that is buried deep inside, behind society's constructs and limiting beliefs that have been passed on to me through generations and by my peers. When I am out here, in the wild places, beside Eryri's tranquil lakes, beneath majestic mountains, with the branches of the pirouetting silver birch trees wrapping themselves around my weary body, my spirit feels a certain peace, and the voice that I seek is free to speak.

Reverence

One of the great tragedies of our human existence is that we have tamed our wildness and called it beauty. We keep the raw and untamed parts of ourselves repressed through fear that they will be rejected and judged by others. We conform, follow the status quo, please others by withholding our hearts’ truth, and do all that we can to fit ourselves into a box within the normalcies of society. Not only do we tame our own wildness, but we then go on to manicure the landscape, stripping it of its true nature.

Derw (Oak)

High up in the mountains of Eryri, ancient oak trees stand as gatekeepers to a sacred wellspring of wisdom and creative power. They wait patiently with open arms, ready to welcome those curious souls who wish to uncover their secrets.

Learning to See Again

To begin the process of knowing, we first have to admit that we don’t know anything. We must become like children again: full of enthusiasm and not limited by our egoic minds. This collection traces my ongoing apprenticeship in the art of seeing: learning to look beyond the immediately obvious, to experiment with perspective, and to allow the photographs enough time to reveal themselves to my eyes.

Amongst Trees

When I enter a woodland, it is as though I have crossed an invisible boundary into a sacred world. A sense of safety washes over me. Within the womb of the misty woodland, I have found the place that resonates with my soul; it is a spiritual place that has allowed me to heal old wounds and unearth a deep sense of purpose. After many years of searching, I have found where it is that I belong.
