Have you created photographs of the landscape that excite you and inspire you, but for some reason, you are still seeking something MORE?

Perhaps you are tired of submitting your photographs to camera club competitions, only to be disappointed by the empty feedback from the judges who are more focused on the blown-out highlights of out-of-focus parts at the heart of your image. Maybe you’re stuck in your head, constantly criticising your photographs and comparing them to others online, unable to see the true value in your own work.

Or perhaps you have a collection of photographs that feel meaningful to you, but you struggle to articulate why they matter, what they are saying, or how they fit together. You sense there’s a deeper story running through your work, but you can't quite understand it yet.

This is where I step in.

Landscape & Nature Photography Portfolio Review & Creative Development

Find the Light within Your Landscape Photography: Portfolio Review & Creative Development with Professional Photographer and Writer, Brad Carr

Duration: 90 minutes

Format: Online via Zoom

Investment: £175

My name is Brad Carr, and I am an internationally published photographer & writer, and creative mentor. I understand that a portfolio is about much more than megapixels on a screen; it’s the bridge between your inner world and the soul of Nature. These aren’t just photographs; they are pieces of your soul.

Beyond Technique: Understanding Your Story

Now, imagine sending me a selection of your favourite photographs, each of them laden with deeper meanings and messages that no one has previously attempted to understand. Every photograph provides you with an opportunity to speak about how you feel beneath the surface; to explore what truly drives your creative practice.

Think of this service as a blend between a photography portfolio review and an hour of creative therapy that will help you to understand yourself and your creative ‘why’ on a much deeper level — adding meaning to your photographs and uncovering further parts of yourself and your story.

Your Work Deserves to be Truly Seen

Most portfolio reviews and image critiques focus on technical execution: Is the composition strong? Is the exposure correct? Are the highlights blown out? Whilst these elements have their place, they miss the fundamental question: What are you trying to say when you open the shutter?

My portfolio reviews are different. I listen to and understand the emotions beneath each photograph, your creative purpose, and even the fears that prevent you from sharing your creations with the world. Through my curious questioning techniques and thirst for understanding, I can guarantee that you will better understand yourself and your work.

‘‘I had a fantastic Zoom call with Brad to review some of my photography portfolio that I had sent over. I did not realise how much I needed this appointment/chat with Brad. What a great insight and appreciation that photography has to us as human beings, on an artistic and mental welfare level. The insight, feeling and emotions that an image can give will sometimes get missed by the viewer, but not Brad we went into depth on images to find the meaning behind the image and the reason it was taken, this pulled at my creative mind and also made me realise that photography is just not a creative outlet for me, it is also a mental escapism. This review has highlighted my passion and reason for why I try to take photos for emotional/mental welfare reasons.

Just great Photography Therapy.’’

Benefits & What You'll Receive

90 Minutes of Deep Creative Exploration

An Explorative and Expansive Dialogue
I will ask thought-provoking, soul-stirring questions that are out of the ordinary and guaranteed to challenge how you currently view your work. Questions like:

  • Why did you create this photograph?

  • What did you see that others might not?

  • What does this photograph mean to you?

  • What patterns or themes connect these photographs?

  • What are you afraid to say through your work, through fear of being rejected or shamed?

Recognition of Your Unique Vision
I’ll help you identify the threads running through your work — the themes, emotions, and perspectives that make your vision distinctively yours. Often, photographers are too close to their own work to see these patterns clearly.

Deeper Clarity and Renewed Purpose
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding not just about the craft, but about the story that YOU are trying to tell. Who are YOU? What is YOUR story? Why are YOU outdoors creating photographs?

Honest, Compassionate Feedback
I’ll provide constructive insights on which of your photographs resonate most powerfully and why, helping you understand what’s working in your portfolio and what might be diluting your message.

Direction for Your Next Steps
Whether you’re working towards an exhibition, creating a cohesive project, or simply seeking to deepen your practice, you’ll leave with clear direction for moving forward with your landscape & Nature photography.

Four Steps to More Meaningful Photographs

1. Book Your Session

Use the booking button at the bottom of this page to schedule your portfolio review. Please ensure you book at least 7 days in advance to give me time to prepare, ensuring you’ll get the most out of your session.

2. Share Your Intention

In the booking form, tell me what you hope to uncover, what you feel is missing, and what you’re looking for from your photography. This helps me tailor the session to your needs.

3. Send Your Images

One week before our session, send 15-20 of your most meaningful photographs via WeTransfer to brad@bradcarrphotography.co.uk. Format them as low-resolution files (around 1MB per file is optimal). This gives me plenty of time to sit with your work and prepare thoughtful questions and observations.

4. Show Up with an Open Mind

On the day, join our Zoom call with an open mind, open heart, and a notepad and pen. We will explore, reflect, and imagine new paths to walk with the camera together.

Why Portfolio Reviews with Me are Different

Understanding the Camera as a Bridge Between Two Worlds

My own journey began in the rolling hills and valleys of Mid Wales and the ancient woodlands of Eryri (Snowdonia). I walked a pathway towards healing, self-awareness, and understanding of the inner landscape and outer one. Along my way, I learned that the camera is a bridge between two worlds, capturing not only what you see in the external world, but what stories you hold inside.

Your landscape photography portfolio can be that same bridge, leading you and your audience into a space of deeper healing, reflection, and purpose.

A Photographer Who Understands

I’ve experienced the frustration of creating work that feels meaningful to me, but receiving feedback that focuses on the technical minutiae. I understand what it’s like to sense there’s something deeper in your images but struggle to articulate it. I know the vulnerability of sharing work that comes from your soul.

This understanding shapes every portfolio review I conduct. I approach your work with the utmost respect and reverence, recognising that you’re not just showing me photographs — you’re inviting me into your inner landscape.

‘‘I first met Brad at the Land and Light Exhibition in London a few weeks ago, and then joined his closed Facebook page. Brad has a calming nature about him and is really easy to talk with. Via the Facebook page, he was offering a free image review session, so I signed up, as I'm always happy to talk photography! Not only did we discuss the images that I had sent to him, but we also discussed my journey into photography and how it helps me in everyday life. You can listen to this on his YouTube channel.
Brad is an extremely good listener and offers some really useful advice. I would highly recommend! Thanks again, Brad.’’

About Brad Carr

I’m Brad Carr, an internationally published landscape photographer, Nature writer, and creative mentor from Mid Wales. Since picking up a camera in 2018, photography has been my tool for processing grief, finding peace, and unearthing profound purpose following turbulent formative years.

My photographs of the sacred Welsh landscape express feelings of tranquillity and belonging, and reflect my inner transformation through the lens of the camera. My work has been featured in leading publications, including On Landscape, Outdoor Photography, and Nature Vision, and my debut exhibition, Finding Light, was viewed by an estimated 20,000 people at Plas Glyn y Weddw in 2025.

More importantly, I’ve walked the path from technical competence to meaningful creation; from seeking external validation to trusting my own voice. I understand the challenges you face because I’ve faced them myself. Now, through portfolio reviews and mentoring, I help other photographers discover what their work is truly about and find their own authentic voice.

Landscape & Nature Photography Portfolio Review & Creative Development

Are you ready to be truly seen & have your creative voice heard?

Your photographs carry meaning. Your portfolio tells a story. You deserve to understand what that story is.

Book your portfolio review today and discover the deeper purpose within your work.

  • Between 15-20 images is ideal. This gives us enough material to identify patterns and themes whilst allowing time to explore each image meaningfully within our hour together. Choose photographs that feel significant to you, not necessarily your most technically perfect images.

  • That’s perfectly normal and actually part of what we'll explore together. Send the images that resonate with you on an emotional level, the ones you keep coming back to, or the ones you feel say something important even if you can’t articulate what that is yet. Trust your instinct.

  • No. Whilst we may discuss technical aspects if they serve or hinder your message, this review focuses on meaning, intention, and creative vision. I’m more interested in what you’re trying to express than whether your highlights are perfectly preserved.

  • Yes, if you’d like to. Zoom allows participants to record sessions locally. Many photographers find it helpful to revisit our conversation later, as insights often deepen upon reflection.

  • This service is specifically designed for landscape and nature photographers because that's my area of expertise and lived experience. The questions I ask and the insights I offer are rooted in this genre and the particular relationship it creates with the natural world.

  • That’s absolutely fine. Many photographers work through this process simply to deepen their understanding of their own practice and find greater meaning in their creative journey. You don’t need external goals to benefit from understanding your ‘why’.

  • No. This isn’t about judgment or ranking. Instead, I’ll help you understand which images feel most aligned with your authentic vision and why. Some images might resonate powerfully because they capture something true; others might feel disconnected because they’re not serving your deeper story. It’s about alignment, not quality.

  • Camera club critiques typically focus on technical execution and adherence to compositional rules. This portfolio review explores meaning, emotion, personal vision, and the deeper story your work is telling. We’re interested in the ‘why’, not just the ‘how’. You won't hear about blown highlights unless they fundamentally undermine what you’re trying to express.

  • That’s entirely up to you. Some photographers use the session as a one-time deep dive to gain clarity and build confidence. Others choose to continue working with me through one-to-one tuition or transformative mentoring to further develop their vision and body of work.

  • That’s a completely natural feeling, and I honour it. I approach every portfolio review with compassion, respect, and understanding. This is a safe space for honest exploration. You’re not being judged — you’re being seen and heard. Many photographers tell me afterwards that the vulnerability was the most valuable part of the experience.

  • Yes. If you're working towards a specific goal like an exhibition, book project, magazine submission, or portfolio submission, let me know in your booking form. We can focus the session on refining your selection, understanding your narrative, and ensuring your portfolio communicates what you intend.

  • This review helps you recognise the style you’re already developing, often unconsciously. By identifying patterns, themes, and emotional threads in your existing work, you’ll gain clarity about your authentic voice. Style isn't something you invent; it's something you uncover.

  • That realisation itself is valuable! Understanding where you are — even if it's a place of exploration and uncertainty — gives you a starting point. We can work together to identify what draws you to photography, what questions you’re asking, and what direction might feel worth exploring next.
