Brad Carr
Hello! I’m Brad Carr, and I am a professional landscape & Nature photographer, writer, and creative mentor currently living in a small town in Mid Wales called Welshpool. I have been photographing for over seven years, and establishing my photography business over the past four of those.
My creative journey — as well as the business one — has been an incredibly rewarding and eye-opening journey so far. I have learnt so much along my way, and I am proud and honoured to find myself in a position where I can give back to others through private tuition and bespoke mentoring programs after a period of rapid and intensive personal and professional growth.
I have faced my fair share of adversity throughout my life so far. I grew up in a violent and abusive home, navigating my way through eleven long and hard years with the support of my family beside me. I somehow made it through those dark early years relatively unscathed — bar some undiagnosed CPTSD that crops up from time to time. I occasionally have flashbacks and uncomfortable memories arise of traumatic events from my turbulent childhood. Photography has been instrumental for me on my journey towards healing, acceptance, and understanding, and the ancient oaks and silver birch trees have been like my father, best friend, and therapist over the past seven years.
I have found myself ‘here’, in the position of proud, purpose-driven business owner, having been the ‘featured photographer’ in some of the most reputable landscape photography magazines in the world, having publications of essays and photographs in the same spaces, and having shared my story of transformation on some of the biggest photography podcasts in the world. Oh, and my photographs and accompanying writing have been exhibited in Wales’ oldest gallery, Plas Glyn y Weddw, being seen by an estimated 20,000 people throughout the seven-week showing.
I understand that what I am doing with my creativity is unique in this world. I am told it frequently by other photographers during tuition and workshops and by members of camera clubs when I stand in front of them to deliver talks and tell my stories.
I now stand here in service as a mentor and tutor, helping you to find your unique creative purpose, tell your story, bring your own dream into reality, uncover your deepest truths, and lay some strong and unbreakable foundations on which to build your artistic career.
My tuition and mentoring approach works because, despite my relatively short career so far, I can already say that I have been there and done it, achieving many of the things most people set out to achieve in their lifetimes in just seven years. Because of my fast-track to artistic & commercial achievement, I am often told that there must be a higher power on my side!
Deep listening is one of the most important parts of my approach to the art of landscape photography. In my mentoring and tuition, it is also the foundation for a successful experience. I listen deeply to your needs, tailoring programs specifically to you to help you get to where you desire to be. No two mentoring programs are the same because no two people are the same. You are different from any person I have ever met before. You have your own behaviours, quirks, habits, and, importantly, dreams.
When you work with me, you will be working with someone who has a desire to understand everything and everyone at the deepest level. I vow to meet you exactly where you are in your creative journey. I have built myself and my photography business from the ground up, so you can rest assured, knowing that I have likely been in a position similar to the one you find yourself in.

My Philosophy to Landscape & Nature Photography
‘‘The art of Nature photography, I believe, can play a key role as we look to repair our relationships with ourselves and each other, and ascend towards a more loving and peaceful haven on earth. Nature photography is a holistic practice that combines the mind, body, and spirit. It has immense potential as a modality for delivering healing to the human soul and bringing humanity back into harmony with the natural world, which, in turn, brings us back into harmony with our deeper self, and each other as a result. Not only do we move energy and emotions through our body as we move across the landscape in search of a photograph, but the very act of creating can help to unburden us of our psychological baggage as we transmute our pain into creative power.
With the trained photographic eye, the artist learns to look beyond the immediately obvious composition for a more unique and interesting perspective on a location. Through the practice of photography, one begins to experiment with different angles and focal lengths in an attempt to create something completely unique and add interest to their creation. It is through the practice of photography that the abstract and out-of-the-box thinkers are rewarded with more interesting, thought-provoking and conversation-opening photographs.
Within the wider world, there is certainly a place for more people who can approach situations and problems from different angles, for more people who are able to see beyond the immediacy of a person’s often unconscious actions and behaviours, for more people who can see deeply into the soul of another with a level of understanding and empathy that can only lead to forgiveness, acceptance, and unconditional love.’’

‘‘The camera is the bridge that connects these two worlds. Not only does it capture what it sees in the external world that is so familiar to us all, but it reflects, at the same time, the inner world of the artist; one that is completely unique and so often unknown and unseen, even by the artists’ eyes at times.’’
