Take a Look Inside the Academy
I have been teaching photography for five years, and in that time, I have observed things quietly shifting in the collective of photographers…
The photography world is full of content: tutorials, techniques, presets, and shortcuts. The photographers I speak with are not short of information and knowledge; they are missing something else entirely, something fundamental for humanity’s wellbeing.
They are short of connection and community: intimate spaces where their deeper creative questions are taken seriously; where the reasons behind the photographs matter as much as the photographs themselves; and where presence, intention, and authentic self-expression are understood as the very foundation of meaningful creative work.
That is what I have been busy building behind the scenes.
Does this sound familiar?
You have the camera.
You have the skill.
Yet, something is still missing.
— Your images are technically sound, but feel like they belong to someone else
— You know how to use your camera, but not what you are trying to say with it
— You photograph primarily alone, with no one around who truly understands what this practice means to you
— You scroll through other people’s work and feel smaller rather than inspired
— You have moments of real creative aliveness, but then you quickly lose them again
— You sense that photography could give you more than it currently does
None of this is a failure of effort or talent. It is a failure of the education available to photographers. An education built almost entirely around technique, and almost entirely silent about what matters most.
The Finding Light Creative Academy exists to change that.
What Members are Saying:
‘‘After many experiences across a wide diversity of photography ‘‘groups,” I think I may have finally found my home for meaningful conversation & sharing of all things photography. This feels like a way forward beyond the ‘Pretty Picture’. I am very much looking forward to what lies ahead.’’

What the Finding Light Creative Academy is
A heart-led, growth-centred community built on five pillars, and one powerful foundation.
I
Connection
Deepening your relationship with the world around you so that what you photograph carries genuine personal meaning rather than surface-level beauty.
II
Intention
Knowing what you are trying to say before you press the shutter. Photographing about something, not merely of it.
III
Observation
Learning to see what is actually there, beyond projection, habit, expectation, and the images you have already seen a thousand times.
IV
Attention
Sustained focus on one thing long enough for the obvious to make way for the quietly revealing; the unknown territory where the genuine, self-expressive photographs live.
V
Reflection
The devoted practice of sitting with your work honestly and patiently, and allowing it to reveal who you are as a photographer and as a person.
The Foundation
Presence
The strong and steady ground upon which the five pillars stand. Without it, technique is merely distraction. With it, a simple photograph becomes an act of intentional artistry.

What Members are Saying:
‘‘Upon joining FLCA, I immediately felt a sense of belonging and a kind support among the group. I really like the instructional videos, articles, and options to join live events to connect and learn. I like the critique corner, where you can post your photos and ask members to make suggestions on how you can improve. I love the sharing and learning experience. I am new to this group, but it already feels like a family of like-minded souls who enjoy creating, sharing, and learning from each other.’’

The Finding Light Creative Academy Story
— The Mission:
Build a thriving community of creatives who understand their power as storytellers and wish to make a genuine change in the world.
Eight years ago, I was lost. I was navigating my way through a difficult period of grief and loss, and had nobody around me who could support me in my time of need. Photography saved me and gave me a purpose. Nature guided me back home to myself. I have since been featured in international magazines, had my Finding Light exhibition viewed by 20,000 people, and worked directly with over 200 meaning-making photographers. The course of my life has been altered significantly. Having witnessed the changes in myself, I have discovered a deep-rooted desire to watch other people around me learn, grow, and evolve into the best versions of themselves. That is why the Finding Light Creative Academy has been created; I genuinely believe this work can impact the lives of countless people. I hope you’ll be a part of this journey to make a genuine difference in the world.

FAQ’s
-
It is a small, intimate online community and educational platform built at the meeting point of photography and personal growth. It is a place to develop your creative voice through courses, live sessions, honest feedback, and genuine connection with other photographers who care about the deeper dimensions of the art — all held within a safe, supportive, purposeful space on the Circle platform.
-
It is for photographers who sense there is something more to the art than technique, and who are curious, open, and ready to discover it. You might be technically accomplished or still finding your feet; what matters far more is your willingness to slow down, look honestly at your work, and explore what you are truly trying to say. It suits those who long for community and belonging as much as direct instruction.
-
No. The work is about depth rather than skill level, and members arrive from a wide range of starting points. What unites them is not their technical ability but their desire to grow, to connect, and to make more meaningful work.
-
The Academy is still taking shape, and founding members play a genuine role in forming it. By taking the founding survey, your honest answers — about what you need, what you value, and what has been missing — directly inform the content, rhythm, and shape of the community. Founding members are also the first to receive the opening invitation, with priority access before the doors open to the public, and a discounted rate locked in for as long as they remain a member.
-
Founding members will be offered a discounted rate, held for as long as they remain part of the Academy. As the community is still being built, full pricing will be shared with founding members ahead of the opening. Registering your interest now places you first in line, with no obligation to join.
-
The Academy is being built on Circle now, and an opening date will be confirmed soon. Those who complete the founding survey will be the first to know, and the first to be invited in.
-
The Academy lives on Circle: a dedicated community platform built for thoughtful, sustained creative work, with its own private app. It is deliberately not another noisy social media feed. It is a quiet, focused space, free from the comparison and distraction that the usual platforms encourage.
-
As much or as little as you wish to give. There is no minimum requirement and no pressure to keep pace. Some members engage daily, others dip in when their schedule allows. The community is designed to support your practice at whatever rhythm best serves you.
-
Very much so. Many members arrive feeling exactly this way. The Academy is built to be a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space. The Critique Corner and community discussions are about generous witnessing and encouragement, never harsh criticism. You are welcome to observe quietly for as long as you need before sharing anything at all.
What Members are Saying:
‘‘I find the group very supportive, and I like the emphasis on developing my creativity.’’
