Into the Woods Writing

Guided Creative Writing Sessions to Improve Wellbeing & Deepen Connection

Guided creative writing sessions that blend reflective conversation with journaling & poetry to invoke healing, improve wellbeing, deepen self-awareness, and help you find words for what’s often left unspoken.

Available online or in person outdoors in the Welsh landscape.

The world around us is moving increasingly quickly. We rarely get a moment to slow down, contemplate our deeper questions, and find that place of connection with nature, ourselves, and each other. We are more disconnected than ever. Something has to change.

That is why I began writing almost a decade ago. I was seeking a more meaningful life and a stronger sense of self after journeying through a period of grief and navigating some of life’s inevitable challenges. I found great solace and healing in the natural world with my camera in hand, and in the pages of my journal during the sacred hours of morning.

I have since published books, showcased my photographs and writings in national galleries, and guided over 200 people on soul-searching journeys of their own. The creative process has been incredibly cathartic for me, and I have met many new sides of my soul in the mirror of nature. I now offer safe, supportive spaces for people like you to explore who you are through creative writing and find your own sense of belonging inside your own skin.

‘‘I’ve been on several creative writing journeys with Brad. Each one of them has been profound. Brad is very skilled & professional in how he leads his sessions, allowing space for silence, integration, and whatever wants to emerge through you — whether that is a poem, prose, word, or an expressive journal entry. Whatever it is, Brad can hold the space for it! His way of asking open-ended questions gets you to reflect on things you’d never usually think about; it’s like the questions he asks help you to unlock certain doors within your own psyche, leading you to answers that you never knew you were seeking.’’

There is, inside all of us,
a voice longing to be unearthed.

Go now,
Befriend your silence and solitude;
wander into those dark corners within yourself,
where you so fear to tread.

Find your courage,
And you will retrieve treasures

that can never be bought nor sold.

‘‘If we can liberate the creative process in our lives, it will always find the way to whatever needs attention and transformation. The challenge, then, is first to free our creativity and then to sustain it as a disciplined practice.’’

— Shaun McNiff, Art Heals

Is this for You?

These sessions may be right for you if:

  • You sense there’s more going on beneath the surface than you usually reveal

  • You feel a gap between how you feel inside and how you present yourself to others

  • You’re currently embarking on a spiritual journey, exploring your identity and place within the world

  • You find it hard to put your inner experience into words, and it affects your relationships

  • You’re curious whether creativity could help you understand yourself more clearly

  • You feel drawn to many forms of creative expression, but don’t know where to begin

  • You want a structured, gentle way to process a change, transition, or difficult period

  • You’re ready to make space for reflection, even if you don’t know exactly what will come up

Three Pillars of these Sessions

Connecting with Nature

We will draw on Nature’s calming, grounding quality through guided reflection exercises using photographs, memories, or your direct experience if outdoors.

Reflective Conversation

Through attentive listening and open questions, I’ll create a safe space for your own thoughts and feelings to surface at your own pace.

Guided Creative Writing

Writing becomes a tool for putting language to what’s often hard to express directly, without ever needing to be a ‘‘good writer.’’

‘‘I have learnt so much through these sessions, things about myself and the people around me that I never took notice of. I have also been pulled closer and closer to the beauty around me through every session. You have given me an opportunity to grow in so many ways.  You’ve also given me a chance to practice my photography and my creative writing. I never thought I’d be sitting here today with a book full of poems and songs, and a camera filled with not only beautiful pictures, but beautiful memories.’’

Your Session Journey

Each session follows a similar structure, with room for the session to go wherever it needs to.

1. Pre-Session Preparation: A short guide to help you prepare: creating a quiet, private, healing space (or choosing a good outdoor location) and what to bring.

2. Opening & Grounding: A few minutes of settling in — breathing, a meditation to quieten the noise of the day, and arriving fully in the session.

3. Reflective Conversation: Open, attentive conversation exploring what’s present for you, guided by open-ended questions rather than answers.

4. Creative Writing: When something emerges with energy, we pause and make space for raw and unpolished writing.

5. Integration & Closing: We reflect on what has arisen and talk through anything you’d like to carry forward.

6. Moving Forwards: You’ll be invited to book another session to continue your journey, or signposted to resources that I think you might find useful.
